When the first crop of 80 somethings arrived, they thought they'd hit middle age at 30. If they were capable, I bet they would have been doing cartwheels when they hit 80 with no obvious sign of the end being nigh. I have absolute proof (but it's top secret, so I'm unable to disclose details), that the current crop of 30-40 year olds will live until they're 603, with no signs of degradation until they're 602 and 9 months old.
You still have the same brain, logic, and reasoning throughout the various ages you reach. Unless you're incredibly conformist, how can age affect you? If you allow yourself to be categorised, you allow yourself to be judged on issues that really aren't that important in the scheme of things. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy; if you believe you're old, people will treat you as if you're old. Conversely, the indignance and transparency of those that pretend they're younger than their years, fools no one. Even with a lifespan of 603 years, life's short; enjoy it. 40 sucks? Most ages will if you ask nicely.
PS. Belated birthday greetings for your 34th, Daniel.

40 sucks! The only good thing is that you learn more about geriatrics.
