I've returned to Oakland on an enjoyable flight from O'Hare, albeit delayed about 4 hours, specifically an NAS delay (more on this below!). A few friends picked me up at the airport, and it felt great to be home again. My perception of "home" pretty much shifted during this vacation for the first time since I moved to the Bay Area.
I now feel grounded here in San Francisco, no longer considering Chicago my home. While my life in Chicago was prosperous and easy, there are so many points that have made my experience out here more fulfilling: the Bay's endearing culture, endless adventures, and the challenges of economic hardship that we have all endured over the past few years.
I moved to Bernal Heights, and while the neighborhood seems detached from the heart of the city, at least it's still San Francisco. As far as work goes, I am engaged in four separate IT/Programming gigs, and soon I will be able to reveal information on these. Sorry for the tight-lipped approach for the moment, but these are new industry secrets!
I will soon be in a financial position to start flying again and building up flight time, most likely through Diamond Aviation at San Carlos airport. While in Chicago I visited some of my old flight buddies and the nostalgia is driving me to the sky again.
I am also engaged in a multi-pronged discrimination case (sexual orientation) against one of my ex-employers. The LGBT community in San Francisco is very fortumate to have many allies in defense of discrimination, and I am using every bit of recourse to take a stand against bigotry. I will discuss this in detail in upcoming entries, and I will also share all of my knowledge in this matter.
In a few days I will include a full biography on myself, probably adding it to the top menu or left nav bar.
