Ahh, another loverly Sunday. Regarding getting personal in my blog, the reason I'm easing into this is that I am waiting for many friends and buddies to respond to my emails asking how anonymous they wish to be.
Asking permission from your friends is an important step in running a blog, and all too often, this is overlooked. My personal advice to current and aspiring bloggers is this: If you plan to include or mention your friends in your public ramblings, make sure you know exactly how public they really want to be. Also remember that your blog site can quicly be added to search engines, exposing your site to the world (and possibly aliens who may be tapping in there). If your blog is already getting thousands of hits per day, then obviously the world IS watching!
For example, I have several friends in prominent positions that are closeted. Since I am openly gay, if I failed to censor my entries as requested, some sinister tabloid tarballs may pick up on it and dirty some laundry. Do everyone a favor and get permission!
If a friend does wish to be anonymous, perhaps ask him/her if you may change the name so that you may still write about an event.
